Yosemite Adventure Hikes
Alexa Melville first came to Tuolumne County over thirty years ago to raise her daughter, Christelle. She learned to fully enjoy the trees, flowers, wildlife, rock structures, and all natural phenomena found in this beautiful area through long hikes and nature walks. Years later, she is still exploring the Yosemite by backpacking in the back country, bouldering in Yosemite Valley, and finding new exciting trails.
At the young age of fifty, she decided to tackle Mt. Sill in California, a mountain over 14,000 feet. She also climbed the Man tooth tower in Joshua Tree National Park. During this time she also guided women’s climbing trips to Pinnacles National Monument, learned to trail run, kick-box, and fence.
Alexa has worked as a climbing instructor in a world class climbing gym in Monterey, California teaching both women and children. Upon returning to Tuolumne County after living in Monterey, she once again began teaching climbing to children in a program called the Youth Climbing League.
She loves making hiking and climbing enjoyable for children and inspiring those who need a little push with Y*explore. She is a master of keeping all hikes positive, worth while and easier than her hikers ever thought possible. In her fifties she easily keeps up with her thirty year old daughter, and enjoys every excursion with zeal and incredible interest.
