Erik has lived and played in California his entire life. Living in San Jose, he enjoyed hiking and mountain biking throughout the coastal ranges of Northern California. His hiking experience began in the Cub and Boy Scouts of America and continued with trail running and exploring during his college years.
Erik worked as a Recreation Leader for seventeen years with the City Of San Jose’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. He organized and led recreational activities for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. He assisted adults and seniors in achieving fitness goals through exercise program design and training. Erik is currently a certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
After graduating from San Jose State University, Erik became a Police Officer in San Jose. With a passion for coaching and teaching others about physical fitness and nutrition, Erik moved to Sonora in the fall of 2007. He now is a substitute teacher and coaches Soccer at Sonora High School. Erik enjoys hiking throughout Yosemite and you can usually find him mountain biking or repeatedly jogging steep hills. He loves to talk about the great outdoors and anything about physical fitness and health for lifetime wellness! He believes that to have a lifetime of wellness, you have to get outside and play!
