Horsetail Fall is an ephemeral waterfall on the Eastern flank of El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. For a brief time during the month of February, an utterly stupendous photographic opportunity may exist if all the necessary conditions are present. A naturally occurring "firefall" lights up the waterfall in splendid tones of orange and sometimes pink.
This winter landscapes tour will lead us around the Valley for the afternoon to visit some of the vistas popularized by Ansel Adams and other pioneers of landscape photography in Yosemite. We will also travel to some lesser known spots that will highlight the mood of winter. We will discuss depth of field, exposure techniques, metering, the zone system, white balance, and composition among other topics that will be customized for each session. The conclusion of this session will focus on Horsetail Fall, and we will find a proper location for unfettered viewing of these natural phenomena. This tour will offer a chance to learn how to best capture a photograph of this beautiful convergence of natural elements, and bring home a photograph and a memory of a lifetime. We will talk about lens selection, proper support, and techniques for ultra-sharp images of this fleeting moment. If the right conditions for viewing the firefall do not exist, we will adjust the session accordingly.

RAINBOWS & REFLECTIONS : YOSEMITE WATERFALLS PHOTOGRAHY SESSION

May is the perfect month to explore the waterfalls of Yosemite Valley. Copious amount of water, combined with the usually fantastic weather, create a stunning visual palette to photograph upon. We will concentrate of creating beautiful and lasting images of The Valleys iconic waterfalls, including Yosemite Falls, Ribbon Fall and Bridalveil Fall. You will be taken to prime and unusual locations to photograph these subjects. We will look to photograph our subjects as stand alone entities and also endeavor to combine other interesting visual elements in the scene to create photographs that are both interesting and artistic. Learn about what combinations of shutter speed and aperture work best for the subject at any given time. Also learn about filtration and other unusual creative decisions that you can make to help make your images be more unique and creative.
