Nothing worthwhile is easy. Two days of hiking in Yosemite Wilderness is often needed just to reach the shore of Lower Ottoway Lake to make an image like this. Although a difficult challenge, the Red Peak Pass Yosemite Backpack trip is one of the most serene journeys one can make into the Yosemite backcountry. Spending time in the wilderness has a soothing effect that words cannot describe. Reaching a chosen destination can be a cathartic experience full of satisfaction and joy. This image may not express that fully, but it was an excellent night of sleep for the entire group.

Photographing with a camera phone was once frowned upon as a lazy way out of making an image. With advancing technology, these phones are becoming more integral in everyday “outdoor” life. I am currently using the iPhone 5 with an 8 megapixel camera, and will share the world of Yosemite through my phone.
