Mammoth Lakes, CA and Dana Meadows
By John P. DeGrazio
Today is Day 4 of the U.S. Government’s senseless shutdown of the National Parks. Our Sierra Nevada community had been in the infant stage of recovery from the ecological, economic, and emotional impact of the catastrophic Rim Fire before congress decided to stop funding the government. No matter which side of the aisle you sit, it is important to know that small businesses like ours have been pushed to the brink of existence during these last two months. All we can do is continue to encourage our fellow Americans to urge their representatives in congress to solve this budget crisis and reopen our parks.
I enjoy volunteering time to charities and other organizations. Last week, I was on a board retreat in the Eastern Sierra towns of Mammoth and Bridgeport, CA where we enjoyed absolutely stunning views of the great Sierra Nevada mountain range as well as Mono Lake. I was able to capture these two panoramas in Mammoth Lakes and at Dana Meadows.
Photographing with a camera phone was once frowned upon as a lazy way out of making an image. With advancing technology, these phones are becoming more integral in everyday โoutdoorโ life. I am currently using the iPhone 5 with an 8 megapixel camera, and will share the world of Yosemite through my phone.
