Escaping the Yosemite Crowds on the 4th of Julyย
By John P. DeGrazioย
Negativity is everywhere. It’s an inescapable human characteristic. Even well intentioned individuals inadvertently spread it. I like to rise above it. Literally. And I normally escape it in the high country of Yosemite. Many people will say “don’t visit Yosemite in summer. It’s way too crowded.” I scoff at that notion. Our goal at YExplore is to take people away from the crowds to enjoy some quiet time connecting with nature on the most scenic trails in Yosemite. Last weekend we had an opportunity to prove our mettle. Here are two photos from a multi day trip we led over the 4th of July weekend. On each day, we encountered only hearty hikers and enjoyed some quiet time by a couple of Yosemite’s most beautiful lakes. Even on a busy Saturday, we found a spot that left us all alone for more than an hour as we soaked up some sun and the splendid scenery.
