It’s been a difficult summer being a guide in Yosemite National Park. As everyone knows, the park just recently fully opened following the Ferguson Fire. Couple that with a hard drive crash earlier in the year and you have a creative drought like none other. I am slowly coming out of the haze and was preparing this photo for a guest who hiked Half Dome with me back in July. I had forgotten all about this capture but remembered the details once I saw the raw image appear on my screen. My friend Joey went to sit in the King’s Chair as a raven was soaring above Half Dome. Feeling confident I made a great capture, I told Joey he would be pleased. Today I was able to finally send the image to Joey and share it with you all now. As you can see from this photo, it can get pretty smoky in Yosemite Valley in summer. This was also before the Ferguson Fire began.
